How to Care for Your Natural Gemstones
Share
Natural gemstones are geological miracles, but they aren't invincible. To keep your stones glowing for a lifetime, follow these essential care steps:
• Shield from Chemicals: Domestic staples like bleach, chlorine, and even some heavy perfumes can dull the surface of a gemstone or erode the setting. Always "last on, first off" when it comes to jewelry and your daily routine.
• The "No-Scuff" Rule: Different gemstones have different hardness levels. To prevent a harder stone (like a Diamond) from scratching a softer one (like a Garnet), always store your pieces in individual soft pouches or lined compartments.
• The Gentle Glow-Up: Skip the ultrasonic cleaners unless you’re an expert. The safest way to clean your gems is with lukewarm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a very soft-bristled brush. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
